In addition, Mack says all models will get a host of cab refinements. In addition to stronger, cooler running engines, Mack says it will introduce its home- grown automated manual transmission, the mDRIVE; and a new generation of tough Mack drive axles.
Mack Trucks says its 2011 solution to ADR80/03 introduces Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), to clean exhaust gases to the best level ever, while providing the double whammy benefit of increasing power and torque in the Metro-Liner, Granite and Trident range. SCR-equipped Mack trucks will use AdBlue in the SCR process.
The 12-speed, two-pedal transmission will be available exclusively with the Granite and Trident models, which also have the option of Mack’s 150/151 tandem drive axles. These 20 tonne-rated axles come standard with driver controlled diff locks.
For the 2011 Metro-Liner, Mack are offering the Cummins ISL SCR engine as standard, with various power ratings up to 400hp. The Metroliner also comes with the latest generation Allison automatic transmission. Buyers of Mack’s new Titan with have the choice of 550 or 600hp Cummins ISX / Signature engines, which comply with ADR80/03 through the use of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), which involves the addition of a locally engineered Cummins (Diesel) Particulate Filter (CPF).
