On December 17, 1908, Ferdinand Porsche offered the project of active road-train with gas-electric propulsor. It comprised of two-axle tractor with 100 h.p. engine and 93 kWt power generator whose current flow came to tractor’s rear wheels electric motors; and 5 trailers with all axles steerable.
The road train later known as “A-Zug” could make 18km/h perfectly fitting highway spirals in mountains. That’s why it was sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina annexed by Austria-Hungary at once.
