Auto Expo 2014: New versions of Tata Prima and LPS

Tata presented several new versions of its heavy duty models at the Auto Expo 2014 in New Delhi.

Tata Prima 4032.S LNG

The Tata Prima 4032.S LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is powered by a Cummins ISLG 320 LNG Engine which develops 320 hp @ 2,100 rpm and 1,365 Nm @ 1,300 rpm. It is matched to a 9-speed transmission. The wheelbase measurement is 3,900 mm, while the length, width and height of the truck are 6,573 mm, 2,585 mm and 3,285 mm respectively. The GVW is 40,000 kg and the curb weight of the truck is 7,750 kg. The front suspension is a parabolic leaf with 90 mm width and the rear is a semi-elliptical multi leaf spring with 90 mm width.

Tata Prima CX 1618.T

The Tata Prima CX 1618.T is powered by a Cummins BS3 engine that delivers 180 hp @ 2,500 rpm and 675 Nm @ 1,400-1,700 rpm. It is matched to a six-speed transmission. The vehicle’s wheelbase spans 5,600 mm, while the length, width and height are 9,960 mm, 2,495 mm and 2,904 mm respectively. The GVW is 16,000 kg, the curb weight is 6,990 kg and the payload is 9,010 kg. The vehicle is equipped with dual circuit S-Cam air brakes with ABS. The steering is a hydraulic unit with a ratio of 24.2. The fuel tank capacity is 260 liters.

Tata LPS 4923 Lift Axle

The LPS 4923 Lift Axle is powered by an in-line six-cylinder, water-cooled, direct-injection turbo diesel engine that generates 213 hp @ 2,500 rpm and 840 Nm @ 1,400-1,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed gearbox. The wheelbase is 3,587.5 mm, and the length, width and height are rated at 6,569 mm, 2,550 mm and 2,950 mm. The GVW of the truck is 49,000 kg and the curb weight stands at 8,580 kg. The brakes are dual circuit S-Cam air brakes with ABS. The steering is a hydraulic unit with ratio 23.6 or 22.3.
