Dodge / DeSoto / Fargo AS500 / AS600 / AS700 / AS800 / AS900 / AS950

A typical inheritance of the American concern Chrysler is a range of bonneted trucks. It includes medium and heavy-duty 2- and 3-axle vehicles AS500, AS600, AS700, AS800, AS900 and AS950 with payloads from 7.5 to 18 tonnes.

AS500-AS800 series are simplified local models only for the Turkish market. They are known mainly under the brands Dodge and DeSoto. The most famous AS950 series is available under the brands Fargo, Dodge and DeSoto.

Its main version is a 3-axle 18-ton 6×2 dump truck with a GVW of 25 tonnes with a rear lifting axle, designed for extremely difficult working conditions. It uses a Perkins Phaser-180TDi turbocharged diesel engine with an output of 180 horsepower, an Eaton 6-speed manual gearbox, an all-metal 3-seat cab with an air suspension for the driver’s seat, adjustable steering wheel and a table.

These trucks are designed for operation characteristic of Asian countries with large congestion. This can be done by the increased permissible load on the front axle of 7 tonnes and on each rear axle – 13 tonnes. Thus, GVW can reach up to 33 tonnes. There is also a lightweight AS900 version with a GVW of 24 tonnes which is available under the DeSoto brand only for the local market.
