Baribbi IDS 13000 Squalo

Presented at the Hannover Fire Vehicle Fair in 1981, IDS 13000 Squalo is certainly one of the finest fire-fighting machines ever built. Frame — Iveco-Fiat type 320 PM 45 6×6. Engine — Fiat 8280.22, V8 diesel with two turbochargers. Capacity — 17,2L. Max DIN power — 450 hp at 2400 rpm, maximum DIN torque — 165 kg-m at 1400 rpm.

Transmission — Synchronized torque converter and 8-speed gearbox. Front and rear axles with secondary reduction by epicyclic gear in the hubs. Weight — GVW is 32 tonnes, curb weight is 11,3 tonnes. Dimensions — Length is 8,05 m, width is 2,5 m, height is 3,6 m.

Fire equipment. Steel or aluminum alloy water tank of 11,000 liters. Glass fiber foam tank of 1,500 liters. Centrifugal pump of 6000 l/min at 12 bar driven by the vehicle’s engine. Lance Monitor 5000 l/min. Maximum speed is 100 km/h. The truck can pass a kilometer from start in 51 seconds. The cabin for 4 can tilt to open access to the engine compartment.
