The company began to develop a successor to A21 / A31 model in 1982. The new AN series would have a more modern cabin with a boxy shape and rectangular headlights. They were equipped with diesel inline four-cylinder engine and five-speed gearbox.

During 8 years, several prototypes were built, and in 1990 the truck was ready for serial production. But probably because of economic problems in 1993 the company presented only a modernized range A21T / A31T with turbocharged engines.
