Autocar has developed flexible and rugged rear dumper in 1957. This one, the diesel is designed to haul rated payloads of 15 t speeds up to 39 mph (ca. 63 km/h) at its governed engine speed 2100 rpm. Feature of the AP-15 is the planetary drive rear axle with the planetary reduction taking at each outer end of the rear axle, a feature ideally for off-highway use.

Drive in the AP-15 includes gear at the end of the axle shaft which meshes with drives three pinion or planet gears. These planet pinions also mesh with an internal ring gear.

Autocar AP-15 has 10 cu.yd. dump body with full cab protection. Engine is Cummins with an output from 210 to 262 hp. Transmission is 10-speed mechanical. Tires are 12.00/24. There was also AP-18 version with payload of 18 tons.
