Ashok Leyland NewGen U-series

Ashok Leyland represented a new family of line-haul trucks NewGen. It includes the following models: 2526J (6×2 dump truck), 2518H (chassis of series H engine), 3116MAV (8×4), 3121H (chassis 8×2), 3135HD (8×4), 4921H (tractor 6×4).

The trucks are equipped with 8-liter series U engine (except series H trucks). 4 plugs per cylinder and water cooled turbocharger are only some of these engines features. The engines satisfy the environmental standards BS2, but they have the potential for future standards BS3/4. The engine power is from 180hp to 350hp. The trucks are equipped with 9-stage synchronized transmission ZF. Dual circuit brake system increases the safety.

The cabin of NewGen line is built on the basis of Cargo line, but it is significantly developed to increase comfort of a driver and a passenger. 3 new models were presented in November 2010. First time ever biaxial trucks were presented – truck tractors U3518TT (GCVW – 35 tons, 180 hp engine) and U4023TT (GCVW – 40 tons, 225 hp engine). The 3rd new model is the U4923TT (6×4) with GCVW of 49 tons and 225 hp H-series engine.

The current range includes U3118LA 8×4 chassis, U3518TT 4×2 tractor, U3718 10×4 chassis, U4218 10×4 chassis, U4019TT 4×2 tractor, U4923TT 6×4 tractor. All are equipped with a 180 hp H-series diesel engine.
