Chevrolet Series 5100 / 5400 / 5700 ‘1948

Together with the conventional models the cabover series was updated too. It received designations 5100, 5400 and 5700. The cabover models got a new design in a style of conventional Chevrolet trucks.

Thus, cabovers received rounded fenders with integrated headlights, parking lights, recessed in the grille consisting of 5 horizontal bars, and a cabin from the conventional models. In 1951, all Chevrolet trucks got new engines. The engine of conventional models has a power of 105 hp, but the cabovers again received less power version (100 hp) of this engine.

The designations of models:

• 1948. RP-110 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). RR-134 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). RS-158 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
• 1949. SP-110 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). SR-134 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). SS-158 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
• 1950. TP-110 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). TR-134 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). TS-158 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
• 1951. UP-110 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). UR-134 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). US-158 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
• 1952. VP-110 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). VR-134 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). VS-158 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
• 1953. From this year the system of identification was changed. The first letter indicates the series, and the numeric code “53”, “54”, etc. means the Model Year. S-53 – 110-inch wheelbase (series 5100). T-53 – 134-inch wheelbase (series 5400). U-53 – 158-inch wheelbase (series 5700).
