BMC Amazon
BMC Amazon is a multipurpose armored vehicle (MPAV) designed and manufactured by BMC in accordance with the requirements of the Turkish Ground Forces. The armored car provides protection against mines and ballistic threats, primarily due to the V-shaped bottom.
Its main goal is to transfer personnel from one place to another, protecting against all types of threats. However, it can also perform other operational tasks.
Monocoque V-shaped hull with additional armor provides good protection against mines and ballistic attacks according to NATO Stanag 4569. The standard version of the BMC Amazon can carry 5 people, but the capacity can be increased to 7 people. The driver and commander are sitting in front, and the gunner and two passengers are in the back.
In addition to the 4 standard doors, the body structure includes a door in the rear (where two additional seats can be installed) and a hatch. The rear door is equipped with a pneumatic drive. All passengers sit in special seats with mine protection, and there are weapon ports nearby.
BMC Amazon has a curb weight of 13,000 kg. Payload is 1 ton. The armored car is driven by a Cummins diesel engine that meets the requirements of EURO 3 developing 360 hp (275 kW). The equipment includes a cold start kit. The cooling system is adapted for tactical use at temperatures from 32 °C to + 55 °C.
The engine is joined to an Allison 3000 six-speed automatic transmission and Axletech two-speed transfer case with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive. A pneumatically controlled longitudinal differential lock is installed. Amazon has a fully independent suspension and Axletech axles with a lifting capacity of 7 tons.
BMC Amazon MPAV is mainly used for troop transport. It is also a multi-purpose platform that can tailor the desired role required by the end user. It can be used for various tactical purposes according to specific requirements.
In addition to the standard version, designed to carry up to 7 people, the BMC Amazon can be made in the form of a tactical combat vehicle, RV (can be controlled at a distance of 1 km in urban conditions, 5 km in an open field) and an observation and reconnaissance vehicle (includes telescopic mast with cameras).
