The Austro-Daimler fire tender, designed by Porsche, was the first motorized vehicle to be supplied to London Fire Brigade. It was equipped with a so-called mixed or hybrid drive ‘Mixte’: an internal combustion engine only served to drive the generator, which generates a current to power the traction motors. Electric motors were integrated into the front or rear wheels of truck.
