BMC Tugra
At the IAA 2018 in Hanover BMC Otomotiv showcased the new Tugra truck range. The word “tugra” means a personal sign of the sultan in the Ottoman Empire. The BMC Tugra range has replaced the BMC Professional family which has been available since the mid-90s. The design of Professional range was created by Pininfarina, while BMC Tugra is an own development of the Turkish company.
Design of the cabin is inspired by railway locomotives. Tugra can be recognized even from afar — no other model has such a wide grille, which is also colored silver in contrast. The cab is designed in such a way that it can be used with minimal rework for a wide range of vehicles — versions with a sleeping compartment or daycab.
There is a modern dashboard inside with a multimedia system, 7-inch touchscreen display and another display on the instrument panel. At the IAA, the Tugra debuted in several versions — 4×2 tractor for long distance routes, as well as 4×2, 6×4 and 8×4 chassis.
The flagship tractor version is equipped with a 11 L German FPT Cursor rated at 460 hp and 2150 Nm. It is joined with a 12-speed automatic transmission ZF (also made in Germany). Front axle is Ege Endustri, rear axle is Meritor. Standard equipment includes ABS, ESC, lane keeping control system and an emergency braking assistance system. The rest of the modifications are equipped with American Cummins diesel engines with power range from 290 to 400 hp.
