Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD ‘2002
The Silverado GMT800 pickups were introduced in 1998 as 1999 model-year vehicles. The “classic” light-duty C/K GMT400 pickups remained in production for another year alongside the new generation, while the heavy-duty GMT400 models continued until 2001. The new-generation Silverado GMT800 HD was finally introduced for the 2002 model year.
The Silverado 3500HD pickups and light trucks were powered by a 360-hp Duramax V8 at 3,000 rpm. A 340-hp Vortec 8100 V8 producing its peak power at 4,200 rpm was also available. These trucks could tow trailers weighing up to 7,600 kg and carry payloads of up to 2,500 kg.
In 2003, all Silverado models, including the HD versions, received a refreshed exterior design.
